Apply for Help

MVLP services are available to low-income residents of Montgomery County, Alabama, with civil legal issues.

No legal service is available for individuals facing criminal charges. Please contact the Montgomery County Office of the Public Defender or request an appointed attorney from the court for free legal representation in criminal matters.

If you wish to apply for free civil legal assistance, please call Halle Teal at (334) 265-0222 ext. 5 to make an appointment.

Please Note:  You will not be meeting with an attorney in our offices; once qualified, you will be referred to a participating volunteer lawyer.

You may also wish to speak to an attorney immediately by attending our MVLP Advice and Counsel Clinics.  Please refer to the Events page for more information on our clinics.

Once we have completed our intake procedure and determined you are within our financial and case matter guidelines, we will make every effort to refer you to an attorney to represent you free of charge.  You will then be responsible for contacting the assigned attorney to schedule an appointment.

In all matters, you will be responsible for paying all required court costs and out-of-pocket expenses associated with your case.
