Apply for Help

MVLP services are available to low-income residents of Montgomery County, Alabama, with civil legal issues.

We do not provide advice or representation in criminal matters. Contact the Montgomery County Office of the Public Defender or request an appointed attorney from the court for legal representation in criminal matters.

You may speak to an attorney by attending our MVLP Advice and Counsel Clinics.  Please refer to the Events page for more information on our clinics.

Once we have completed our intake procedure and determined you are within our financial and case matter guidelines, we will make every effort to refer you to an attorney to represent you free of charge.

While there is no fee for an attorney through the MVLP, clients are individually responsible for paying all required court costs and out-of-pocket expenses associated with your case, though every effort will be made by your volunteer attorney to have these fees waived, as well.
